Best DAC/Amp for $200?

Thread Starter

I have the Beyerdynamic DT 880 pros (250ohms) and I'm having trouble deciding on which DAC/Amp would be best in the $200 price range. I have considered the Audinst HUD MX1, NFB-12, Yulong U100, and the Uber Muzik Tiny Tube.

I will be using these cans for everything from recording acoustic jams and producing electronic tunes to listening to classical and dubstep. If somebody could give me direction on these or make new suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Nobody? If this subject has been hammered to death, someone posting a link to a previous discussion would help. I don't mean to waste anybodies time.

Stay with solid state with your budget. More "bang for the buck" that way.

Alright. Any suggestions?

Audio-gd NFB-12 (Link: http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/Headphoneamp/NFB12/NFB12EN.htm).  Great performance for the price.  Good sound quality with the Wolfson 8741 chip, and an amp to drive most headphones with authority.  Well-regarded on Head-Fi, and a steal at $200 IMO.

Maverick Audio A1, or D1.

Thanks guys. I ended up settling on the Audinst because I couldn't find anything but great reviews on them.  I was on the border between it and the nfb12 for a while and I'm not sure if I made the right choice, but I think I'll be happy.

What do you think?

Uber Muzik Tiny Tube Dac would be a better choise than the Audinst MX1. Check out http://www.headfonia.com/uber-muzik-tiny-tube-dac/
