Understanding PS Audio DLIII

My understanding is that the DLIII upconverts any input to 96/24 or 192/24. Does this make using albums from HD Tracks at 96/24 redundant or does starting with a higher resolution recording make it that much better? Is there any way of telling if a downloaded 96/24 album such as The Who's Tommy is being passed from my netbook via USB to the DLIII and actually arriving at the DAC at the 96/24 resolution?  Does the USB  allow that level of resolution?

From my understanding its much like DVD upscaling sure you can upscale DVDs to 1080p and they look a little better but no where close to full 1080p Blu-ray. So yes using hdtracks for 24/96 will sound better then up sampling. You can't add data into the file when the data never existed but you can resample it (complicated) to make it sound a little better. This is in theory of course. General rule of thumb start with the highest quality audio file you can get that will make more difference then up sampling or other gimmicks.
