Recommendations for headphones with great clarity and transparency - Page 3

I might have something to do with it sounding better in the near future too...

Let just hope I don't accidently mail you a pair of jump ropes instead haha

I second whoever recommended Stax, if you have patience and budget for a vintage amp+HP (~$600) - it doesn't get more transparent than that. They're also probably the closest thing I've heard to a full-size Etymotic.

K701/702 is a great headphone in the $250-300 range too, and I think will scratch your transparency itch. But... really keep an eye out for an opportunity to listen to a Stax Lambda rig, even if you don't buy one. It will rock your world.

LOL - I just hope I can get the plugs out without too much effort - looks like they're stuck to the headphone!

I actually heard a STAX system a few years ago and tbh it didn't do anything for me.  It was the bottom end of the range - maybe that had something to do with it, but at the time I remember not being blown away.  But certainly, if I get the chance to listen again (or hopefully attend a Head-Fi meet in the future) I will jump at the chance.

Yes, for clarity and transparency the Dacport is QUITE awsome!

y dont u try something like the srh 940 ? ....amping =  NOT! ...fair for the price and a-philes say they sound similar to the hd 800's signature .... besides u ll get better isolation and easy attention to detail ....

if you want more soundstage ....hmmm chek out the open backs mentioned ....if you want audiophile quality with a slightly relaxed sound still with no 'veil'  ...

my suggestion would be to get the dt 990 pro (250/600) + the bravo audio v2 amp ...

another point would be to avoid the lower impedance dt 880s like the 32 ohm, please see the dt 880 impedance comparison at innerfidelity.com ..

tyll has pointed out the differences very clearly in my opinion ...
