I'm needing an audio rack for my slowly increasing number of audio components. Kind of wondering if I should be picky since I have a TT. Anyway, is a wooden rack better than glass, metal, etc? Would a metal rack be better due to better shielding between components? Does it matter if it is enclosed or open?

Really depends on the turntable and the floor. Some are more immune to vibration than others and solid floors transmit less footstep effects than floorboards.
An enclosed cabinet will suffer more from air borne vibration.
Many people prefer wall mounted shelving for the turntable as it can avoid many of the isolation problems as long as it's securely fixed to either solid wall or the stud work.
The Ikea 'Lack" side table is popular as a turntable support as it's lightwieght construction dissipates floor born vibrations very well.

It's not as important as the people who are selling racks make it out to be.
Buy what fits with your decor. If you have a significant other, be sure to get approval.
