Thinking of going the OP AMP route...

I have an auzentech forte and thinking of grabbing the AD8620BR OP AMP for it.  Sounds like it might be a good one as it others an improvement in all the ranges.  Though this is my first time entering something like this.  I don't even know of any Canadian suppliers where I can get OP AMPs other then Auzentech.

People say they get a big improvement on their sound by switching the op amps.  Would op amp also effect the headphones?  That is all I'm going to be using the forte for.

Cheers on any input.

You can try going to audiophileproducts.com   They're a Canadian based company and carry 3 high-end op-amps (AD797, LM4562, OPA627).  I personally found the OPA627 op-amps to be really good...like scary good.  The amount of detail, instrument/music separation, bass and the natural sound of the music is on another level.  I was pretty much rediscovering music with the OPA627's.  I suggest getting their pre-made 627 superchip. However, OPA627's aint cheap! But I feel they're worth every dollay.

It looks like they are 47 bucks?  I wonder if those OPAMPs will fit in the forte?

Yeah, those chips will fit. All you need is one of their 627 superchips ($37) and you're set. And the sound is pretty much a night/day difference with this op-amp. What kind of headphones are you using?

I'm thinking of grabbing the grado SR125i.

I used to have Senns HD 555s but I really dislike the flat sound and poor bass quality.  They were a little too open.

How about OPA827? I heard it is comparable to the OPA627, and it is cheaper.

Ooo nice, even better. Yeah, I can only speak to what I have purchased, so the OP might wanna look into the OPA827's.

I used the opa827 in my creative x-fi HD in the buffers, with AD797AR in the I/V section, compared to the OPA627BP which I use now,the 827 offers better mids, very clear mids, but loses to the 627 in lows and highs reproduction, sounds to much flat while the 627 is more rounded and more pleasent.

Anyone try OPA2111KP before?

Well, for 50 seems reasonible.  I don't mind spending up to around 50-60 CAD for the OPAMP itself.  I only have the one changable.

Hmm, might be good for my speakers.  :p

I'm not a fan of flat sound, that is for sure.  Right now I'm drawn between the AD8620BR and the OPA627 SuperChip.  Does the OPA627 AP have any signficant benefits?

I did try them on the I\V section on my X-Fi HD,it has a great lows, good mids and highs, pretty good actually, sound "equalized",the highs are kinda light as the overall sound signature, but I prefer the more natural and true sound of LME49860,,,which for me atleast,is a winner, great lows and mids, highs are my only grip on them as they sound to "digital"..but overall I just love them on my soundcard.

On my setup, I have the OPA627's attached to the DAC output of my soundcard and the LM4562's on the headphone out.  The OPA627 chip is nowhere near to being flat sounding.  I feel that this op-amp makes your music more lively and entertaining.  Your old music becomes new in some sense. Here's a website with some reviews on various op-amps.
