Musical Fidelity V-Link need a fancy USB cable?

My V-Link arrives today.  Since this device re-clocks the signal, does a fancy $$$ USB cable matter?  I was going to use a 0.99 throw away cable or maybe a Griffin Gold USB cable.  Do I really need a Wireworld or Audioquest?

I use the V-Link to feed the M1-DAC some 6 meters away. The V-Link sits immediately to the side of my Mac Mini. I'm using a 0.5m Wireworld Ultraviolet USB but mainly because I wanted the shortest cable I could find to keep things neat. I compared the cable with a couple of others I had but as long as the cable met latest Hi-Speed specs I couldn't hear any difference.
I think that as the V-Link is taking care of the jitter, there's no real benefit from expensive cables. That may change if the USB cable was longer than the normal 1.5 - 2m. but my main reason for adding the V-Link was to allow me to run a long optical interconnect from my a/v system where the Mac Mini lives across to the end of the room where my headphone rig sits. Any audio improvement from the Asynchronous USB was a bonus.

If the power for the V-link is supplied via the USB cable, the only thing I'd suggest is a dedicated power supply for it.

I plan on putting the V-Link next to the Mac Mini so the cable length will be very short. So you say the Wireworld was no better than a decent, say... $25 Monster Cable?

The extra power is very interesting.

I got the V-Link on Friday.  Using a $0.99 USB cable.  Sounds good.  I ordered a $20 Monster Cable to see if there is a difference.  I'll report back.

Too bad the V-Link doesn't work with iPad via camera connection kit. :(
