Different way to display LED's

I've not seen this done here, so I thought I'd share it, FWIW.

I started by drilling a very small hole (medium sized bit from a pin vise set) through the 3/16ths inch faceplate.

Then I drilled a larger hole to mount a 3mm LED half-way through that hole from the back.

It produces plenty of light without being overpowering.

Nice idea. Is that an input selector?

Looks like your EHHA Rev A is coming right along wink.gif

It's the 3-position power switch; 1) off, 2) heaters (red), 3) full power (blue).

Very nice and clean.  Looks very professional that way.

Nice precision.

Don't mean to off-topic but I wish people would stop using blue leds though so I don't have to turn my setup off while I'm sleeping as it does impact the quality of my sleep. reference

Many blue LEDs are the high-intensity variety, which makes it worse as they emit more light for a given current.  And the high-intensity blue LEDs are cheaper than the low-intensity ones, which is why vendors use them.

There is really a line between indication and illumination.

OT I'm not a fan of blue leds. I opened my lcd monitor and cut off that anoying led. smile.gif There is absolutely no logic in it. When my monitor is on, I can clearly see that.

funch: Interesting. But there also exist 1mm leds.

Nice LED presentation. And that was a very interesting read through. Blue LEDs aren't my favorite, as I prefer green.

Yah, the combo of red and blue looks like a cop car, but they are the only colors I have right now.

I would have prefered green with the red myself. More like Christmas than a speeding ticket. biggrin.gif

I found a couple of violet LED's in my stash. No reason both have to be different colors. Lower intensity than the 'cop car'.

That's sweet! Wish I could swap for violet on all of my gear.

The violet looks way better IMO.  Bright enough for indication and a soothing color.

Violet is nice.

Not too light, not too dark. Just enough character.

Looks even better than it photographs though!
