Can I run these without an amp? I have pro900s that I need to amp and I'm looking for some sturdy bass heavy headphones that I don't need to amp...would these fit the bill?

No, the PRO700 needs to be amped to get that big bass.

To me the PRO700 was extremely mediocre without amping.

Hi General,

I have a question: Which Pads are these (from the DT 250)? Ar these the Velours or just the Softskin one's? How does that change the Sound?

Hope for a reply soon.

Hey guys sorry to bump this thread but I've made several threads about this but I haven't gotten a single reply so I am asking this again. I would really, really appreciate it if someone could respond and help me out !

Basically, I'm looking for the bassiest set of headphones for 170$ max while also having well defined highs and mids as well. I was dead set on buying these after reviews but after reading this thread I'm not sure. Over-ear is preferred.

Yeah, they're a bit too bulky for me personally. I hear they have face melting bass though.

Either way, I already ordered the pro700mk2s. Lets see if I like em :) Thanks for the reply.

What's your verdict?

I'm listening to my pro700s right now lol they do have face melting bass.  So much bass that it rumbles hardcore on my head haha.... seriously like this... L3000.gif... My setup is the Fiio E17 bass setting on 10 and boss of 5 db on the bass and everything is pretty stable with a slight raise in of 1 db in mids and a 2db raise on the 6k to 7k range and a 1db raise in the highs.  The bass roars like no other.  I also use M50 pads as well... The stock pads just dont get enough of a seal to get the insane amount of bass that the m50 pads get...

Also I'm selling my Pro700s if anybody is interested lol

I liked them very much... up until the left driver gave away :(  There's mounds and mounds of bass, and while it's not "punchy" per se, it's executed quite well and rumbles quite a bit. There's an ample amount of low mids as well which gives it a "dark" sound signature in conjunction with it's recessed highs - don't get me wrong though, there is no rolloff, it's just overpowered by the bass. When the highs do come out they're very nice, as in not harsh or grating. Brilliant SQ imo, I liked it a lot with EDM.

With M50 pads the mids recess a bit more than normal which makes everything very boomy, wasn't sure if I liked that. The stock pads are very, very uncomfortable though, so M50 pads is a no brainer with them. The build quality seemed fantastic ( or maybe not considering that they died within 2 weeks) and the headphones felt rock solid.

Anyway, I listened to my friends Bose QC15s and instantly fell in love with those as well, which is when I realised that I don't really need pro700mk2 levels of bass.... I returned the pro700s because they broke and am contemplating about buying SRH840s for my next pair.. let's see how they hold up!

Any of you Pro700 owners tried either Shure 840 pads or HiFiMan HE series leather pads on these monsters?

Can anyone recommend a set of headphones specifically for immersion in single player games using the astro mixamp? I own the AD700s which I use for competitive play, and M50s, which I currently use for single player. But is there other headphones that would be better than the M50s for explosions and stuff while stuff?

The Pro700mk2 look good for my needs. I also think HFI 580s would be good. I'm open to any recommendation.

Thanks
