How to Check Regulator 7812

Hey Guys

How do i check if my 7812 regulator placed in my Mini^3 working or not?

the amp is still under construction, so can't check that way. What can be a good way to check it without desoldering it?

If you don't have much else soldered in around it that it could

hurt or interfere with testing it, then just solder on some

temporary wires from the regulator to a power supply and

from the regulator to a load resistor. About 240 ohms would

be good. Then just measure the output voltage.

Solder the wires to the bottom of the pins where they

come through the board to avoid damaging anything.

On second thought, the resistor should be 600 ohms up to

around 1k. Less than 600 ohms will let the magic smoke

come out of a 1/4 watt resistor.

Without knowing what you have populated, I can't give any further advice.

I've put in everything else than three capacitors and the battery.

I would wait until you have the last three caps installed then follow

AMB's initial checks guide.
