iTunes Freakout. Please help.

Something strange is happening in iTunes and I wonder if it is a know issue:

Last night my playlists began to change by themselves. I would open one playlist and it would contain a whole stack of songs that never belonged to that playlist. I've looked at most of the playlists and and it is pretty much the same with all of them.

I know that it's easy to accidentally drag songs into the wrong playlist, but this was not that.

Also, in one playlist there were songs that when selected and played, were completely other songs. In other words actual file name had changed.

I use an iMac and have the latest iTunes (I think). I'm not conntected to the internet and should be virus free, though occasionally I've put files on that have been downloaded elsewhere.

Has anyone had the same problem?

Cheers,

Dave

Your iTunes library info may be corrupted. I'm just guessing though which is something I hate to do.  Do you ever run Permissions repair with disk utility?   Best thing to do is head on over to the Apple discussions site and ask this question there.  https://discussions.apple.com/community/itunes/itunes_for_mac

It's definitely not a virus though.

thanks.  still waiting for a reply or an acknowledgment....

I've been on those Apple forums since 2004.  Mostly for Garageband and Logic, but whenever i have an issue with anything Mac related that's the place to go.  The folks on those forums live to solve Mac issues.

I posted my question there, but no answer yet.

Anyhow, I'll probably just reinstall the latest iTunes and rebuild the playlists. Maybe even re-rip my CDs (because of those file-name changes). Pain in the ass though.

You should get an answer soon.  Man I really want that V200 you have listed!  Every time in the past 5 weeks I was just about to order one something else came up in the remodeling of my home...
