[REVIEW] Edited Shure SE215 IEM REVIEW - Page 4

Thanks for this great review! I've ordered the se215's yesterday, but these are my first IEM's. I only have one question, what's a good way to burn these in? What song or file should i use?

Gear mentioned in this thread:

http://www.burninwave.com/

You can download the burn in wave generator program that has pink/white/brown noise and frequency sweep generators.

Very useful program

I got a few files from a friend. I use a 15 second long frequency sweep, 2hr long pink noise and a 2 hr long white noise

Just purchased a pair of these. So far very impressed. The only thing that drives me nuts is that the headphone jack won't fit into the standard (Apple) iPhone 4S bumber. Seems very very dumb for headphones with this target price...

Anyway, I'd rather modify the headphone jack than the iPhone bumper. I'm just wondering if it's safe for me to trim off plastic from the headphone jack so that it will fit. Has anyone else done it yet? Just want to make sure I won't be cutting into anything aside from excess plastic...

Thanks!

I don't exactly recommend doing that... It might void the warrenty (not sure) and it WILL make the plug significantly weaker. As in bumper do you mean the case? Yea I noticed that sometimes I have problems but that's rare because I usually amp my iPhone with a LOD cable. Btw try the Fiio E6 amp with the iPhone and Shure. Sounds really good for a price you can't disagree to. Also with a LOD cable, it will improve the SQ compared to a 3.5mm cable

Hey, thanks for the response. I actually have a pretty good headphone amp, and even an LOD thing. However, I don't want to bring either of those with me when I go for a walk. :)

hey man, nice review, thank you for sharing. just bought these, still burning them in (suggestions on how long i should??)... god the cable is tooooooo long (suggestions on reducing that rediculous length?).... :( i found shorter replacements on ebay but i wouldnt like anything to damage my brand new earphones, nor to pay an extra 30$ as of now...

i didn't bother to download any special sounds for burning in, i am just leaving my mp3 player playing with them for 20 hours now... i think they need more, i am not THAT impressed, i mean everything is there, just nothing special... any suggestions? any special sounds to download from this burn-in website? i am lost.....

Just informing you that burn-in won't make a huge difference. The SE215s are able to impress a certain amount of people I guess? Maybe if you compared the SE215 to another IEM you will find the SE215 to be quite impressive. They pretty much blew me away, I'm not sure about you though... For the cable... Uhmm try tucking it away in your pocket??
