Replacement for x-fi fatal1ty soundcard

Earlier today my x-fi fatal1ty sound card was giving me all sorts of static and distortion. I'm not entirely sure why it was, but it has stopped for now. Just in case it stops working I'd like to have a replacement card selected. What are some recomendations? I've been looking around and from what I understand the xonar essence stx is one of the better ones for music listening while something from azunetech is preferred for gaming. Will I see major improvement with something like the essence stx over my current fatal1ty card? Also I should note that I'm using sennheiser hd555's and my fatal1ty card isnt the titanium model..its just the old x-fi XtremeGamer. http://www.amazon.ca/Creative-Blaster-XtremeGamer-Fatal1ty-70SB046A00000/dp/B000IZAN4K.

You will probably notice plenty of improvement.

If gaming isn't really important, I'd recommend going with the Zero amp/DAC instead or if you can push for the XiangSheng DAC-01A or Audio-gd NFB-12.

Well I don't do much gaming where sound is that important, but when I do play a game where it is I play fairly competitively. Do you think a card like the azunetech forte would be a good alternative for gaming and music listening? Thanks.

Probably.
