Sound Quality: Batteries vs AC Wall Outlets

Does anyone know if there is a noticeable difference between the sound quality of using batteries to power your gear vs an AC wall outlet?

If I had to guess, I would say batteries would be better because you avoid the AC -> DC conversion which might otherwise add noise and batteries are completely isolated from other electronics. Whereas, with AC, every single thing plugged in at your house may add interference.

What are your thoughts?

Often times when you plug a device into a wall charger it powers the device better - sq improves due to the higher power input/output. How many times do you have a radio on battery power and the volume & sq are pretty good, then you plug it into the the wall and the sound changes. It becomes louder, fuller, richer.

Wall power = enhanced sq,...DEPENDING on the device. Now, when I've done this w/many an mp3 player (Cowon, Sansa, Samsung, Sony, Apple, etc) it made no difference either way. For a portable audio playing device there's no real discernible difference IMO.
