Which mp3 player? Rugged, long battery life.

My Dad's mp3 player (Sony nwz-e356f), just broke.

The Volume Up button is now behaving as a Back button, making it pretty much unusable. Putting the settings back to factory default, formatting, and a firmware update did nothing.

So. He's going to need to buy a new one, and i was hoping you guys could help me.

He's almost always outside and moving around a lot so:

It needs to be able to withstand a good fall on to asphalt.

Something splashproof or even waterproof would be a huge plus.

Battery life of 30+ hours would be good, so he doesn't have to charge often.

4Gb of memory is enough.

As for audio quality, he listens to audiobooks, mostly, so it's not a huge priority, but obviously we want it to be decent.

He's hoping to spend less than a hundred dollars. This'll probably be the hardest requirement, so we'll say up to $150 if you have to go that high.

So yeah, i've been checking out the latest sony models and the Zunes and all that, but i haven't been watching the market much and was hoping you guys could help.

Thanks in advance.

Sansa Fuze.  It has great battery life and sound quality, lots of people have them here.

Yea, the Fuze is a good choice, or the Clip+ if you want something smaller.

A fuze plus a case should be pretty rugged.
