Triple-Fi 10 - Anyone tried taking them apart?

Hi Guys,

A friend of mine wants to try building he's own IEM's. One of the options is taking apart a TF10 for the drivers (a used pair of these costs less than the drivers from Mouser).

The only question is if the drivers can be salvaged or are they held using epoxy or something of the sort. Does anyone have any experience?

Thank you.

They can surely be salvaged. In fact, many have sent their TF10 to be reshelled into custom.

Thank you for the response. Did you ever open a pair of these or are you just relying on the fact UE can change them into customs?

I never open a pair myself but I have seen several cracked open TF10 on another forum. Also, UE doesn't reshell TF10, it is done by third party companies, namely Unique Melody, Kozee, Fisher Hearing, etc....that are probably a few more I missed. Yes, there are quite a few companies out there that will reshell most balanced armature based IEM to custom. In fact, they also reshell other people custom into your own custom too.
