I re cabled my headphones recently all seemed to go well solders look good etc. Now when i hook up my headphones i get a squeaking sound but that stops when music is playing. The sound is great besides that. I used canare f12 plug what do you think could be the problem?

Grab a DMM (digital multimeter) and measure trough the [left and ground] and the [right and ground] to check if it is different because Your cable could be shunted with some small impedance. You better do that before soldering the thing to the headphones but i'm also sure the problem is with the work part of the cable (eg. soldering, crimping, isolating).

Do you think the problem is on the plug or driver part? Should I get a different plug? Which one would you recommend the f12 seems a little thick

Before people start randomly guessing at where the problem is, what did the DMM tell you? Do you have good resistances at the various plug connections? Compare left & Right to ground, and left to right (skipping ground). do these numbers make sense considering the "rated" impedance of the headphones (give yourself a 10% window for measurement errors, and MFRs who may make interesting measurements and rounding themselves)

If you dont have a digital-multi-meter GET ONE! they are mega useful, and you can find them for like $10 at radio-shack or sears hardware. Maybe you have a friend who could even lend you one.
