How to get a Day internationally recognized? UN?

So basically our entire chem division decided that 03 May would be the "International day of the Ampholyte". And we are serious about it.

Well... Which organization to contact first? UN came to mind but they don't care about such things, right?

If there can be a Pi Day, there can be an Ampholyte Day.

Thank you very much and again, we are serious about it.

I don't know much about the UN.

What I'd do is lobby your federal Representative and Senators.

Yes, they really do pay attention to constituents. They all have staffers who deal with constituent requests. Since this is non-controversial and apolitical, one of them might get behind this. Have everyone send letters and show up at their local offices. Going in person with a written request will get attention - offer to take their staffers out to lunch to talk it over.

They like this kind of thing, since they can campaign on helping out the locals. This won't offend anyone, so one of them should bite.

I used to work for a state senator as chief of staff and regularly met with people. Go in person, be friendly, schedule a lunch or dinner with a staffer, and bring along written materials (in layman's terms) explaining why this is important. If the staffers like you, the material will get passed along with enthusiasm. The personal touch is important.

Thank you Erik. I'll certainly pass this info to the lead chemist and all the techs.
