remind me of another amazon review, this time on the HD800, the guys plugged them directly to his macbook, returned them and wrote a 1 star review(?) saying they were trash., too bad couldnt find it.

 

seriously, who spends that much money on something they dont understand?

I think neutral signatures just don't appeal to newbies.  Think back to the eq setting on your car/home stereo when you were 18 years old..   And admittedly, the greatest strength of Ed8 imo is that they do almost nothing wrong.  That is not much to people who want to be hit over the head with something (bass? ear-piercing detail?) when they listen to $1500 headphones.  But it is something when you've purchased nearly a dozen closed headphones and heard nothing but their flaws.

Also, the music that people who eq like that is mastered to sound great on non-neutral setups (like most lo-fi setups). On a more neutral setup that music would not sound right. Not to mention that some people are not familiar with music how it is supposed to sound (live, sitting in the right seat, whatever) so anything closer to right would not sound right (initially).
