Audioengine P4 speakers with Z5500?

Hi everyone,

One of the speakers in my Z5500 recently blew, and I decided its about time to upgrade it. I want to do it bit by bit as I can't afford a whole new system. I was thinking of replacing my 4 sats (L,R,RR,RL) with the P4 speakers, while retaining the center and subwoofer of the z5500. My intent is upgrade to a external receiver/amp at a later stage. I use my PC mainly for gaming, movies and occasional music, so I would like to keep my 5.1 setup. My budget is around 800-1000 for the speakers. This is for a small bedroom setup.

Will this work? Will I have any issues with retaining the z5500 center and sub? Another alternative I was considering was to get 2 pairs of A5s and have them work as my Front and Rear L/Rs. Do you guys have any suggestions for a center speaker to pair the P4s with at a later stage? Or should I just get a Edifier S550D and call it a day.

Thanks for the help in advance!

I would just sell the Z5500, and buy (vintage?) a pair of good tower speakers are a nice (vintage?) amp.

Dump the Z5500, seriously. Logitech speaker sucks.

With that budget, I'd look into some Polk speakers with a decent Onkyo(or any sub $300 receivers) and a subwoofer from Parts-Express. I guarantee you that it will sound way better than your Logitech setup.

The z5500 will sound 10X better if you mod a build in crossover car tweeter to it. Trust me.

If you're thinking of using the Z5500 to amp the P4, I doubt that is possible. Mainstream PC packages like these typically use non-standard connections for their speakers. The entire Z5500 system would probably have to be trashed unless replaced the one speaker.

Using the Z5500 to amp the P4's is possible, completely possible.
