Ipod touch 4g power off question

This is embarrassing but why is it if I push the button breifly as stated in the manual..it only turns off the screen? I have to do the slider and turn all the way off to hear the music stop... then it rests everytime on start up. Am I missing something?

You simply tap the button on the top to put it to sleep.  Hold it to turn it off.  To do a hard shutdown, you hold the sleep button and the home buttons until it shuts off.  Pretty simple, hopefully this helps. :P

I don't think I've ever fully turned my iPod touch off. I just put it to sleep and it lasts a long time. Days. I reboot it every once in a while though.

Yeah, though sometimes I have to reboot it otherwise it starts bogging down and glitching up.  Could just be a bad install + random jailbroken stuff though.  But since I've reinstalled everything it seems to be more or less fine...having the ability to clean memory via sbsettings helps too.

I agree...very simple. But when I tap...it just shuts off the screen but music keeps playing. If i push and hold..the thing comes up to slide the bar over to turn off. But when I go to turn it back on..it resets everytime with the apple on the scrren for 35 seconds or so, which seems rediculous if this has to be done everytime you want to stop the music for say a 10 minute break etc. So I must be either missing something, or I got a bad one. I just want tit to do what my classic does when you hold down the play/pause button for a second...turn off.

Yeah, no tactile control here.  You can, however, double tap the home button at the lock screen to pop up iPod controls.  However, this is generally why the iTouch isn't very well received here, people here like tactile controls so they can control it in their pockets.

Thanks for the help...i can live with the whole thing as long as the battery isn't compromised. I guess I'll make sure I don't have it on repeat and I guess worse case scenario..the albums finishes and that's it?? Also...does the battery while charging..have a "charge complete" indicator? done with questions now...thanks very much.

Oh, and one more thing - if you need to quickly pause it without looking at it, you can simply pull out the headphones.  It automatically pauses the music for you and you can start it up again after plugging them back in.

And yeah, when you have it plugged in it has a huge battery graphic in the place of the background image for the lock screen.  It's big, green and full when it's fully charged. :P

If the music is paused and the screen is locked, consider it off.

It's like closing your phone rather than turning it off. Standby mode lasts forever on most non-smartphones. How are you liking it so far?

While we are on the topic of itouch help, I've had my 2G since it came out and I have never figured out how to do an album shuffle. Anyone?

So far I like it alot. Loving the apps...just playing around with the free ones like a little kid..lol. Wish it were 120 gig like my classic with a similar price..but not to be. Sure is pretty though.Very impressed with the video camera being I never even thought of it having that...very nice bonus...works very well for what it is...a music plyer after all.

Are you getting on your friends/families nerves yet? I know I did.

"Hey, hey, hey you, look at this new app! It does this and that! Oh here's another one I got!"
