JMoney Ear Pads, poor build quality, worst customer service. Must Read! *** Pictures *** - Page 3

Actually, your post does make some difference, such as warning people like me to think more about whether I want to purchase Jmoney pads when I purchase a Denon headphone. I would probably make a thread and complain if my 100 bucks looked like that. And keep updating so the seller's reputation goes down and down until he has to get me a new one(that looks like a new one). I say, good effort.

DJ, aside from the build issues, can you please compare the stock pads? Too many people on here exagerrate as saying its SO much better or whatever nonsense they come up with. I wanna know exactly what's compromised, made better, worse...etc. Appreciate it.

The side that is firmer fits nice and feels much better than the stock pads. I can't say I noticed any sound difference because it's a pain in the ass to pull it off and switch to stock pads. I bought them because they are fatter and would fit better on. I wasn't looking for sound inprovements. I can say that they don't sound any worst than stock so that's a good thing.

I'm going to hold off on my order. The only reason I wanted the J$ pads is because I like the extra fat pads...like the ones in their pictures.

Day four: Response from JMoney.

"Thanks for your email. As each of my pads are handmade, you are going to see differences
between each and every pad. By looking at the photos, you are simply seeing the natural
folds of the particular piece of leather. Each piece of leather is stamped out to look like
one another but because leather is actually the skin of an animal, parts will be thicker
and will form around the memory foam in a different way.

Hope that explains everything. If you really wish to have the pad exchanged, I am happy
to do so; however, you would have to pay the shipping costs".

thanks and best regards

My reply to his email.

Jeremy,

I understand that leather is not perfect, but
the craftsmanship of the pads should be consistent.
The one pad I received clearly is not like ones shown
on your web site and the other pad you sent me.
Asking me to pay additional shipping to exchange what
should not have been sent to me is not reasonable.

I want to continue to recommend your products to other headphones
audiophiles, but i can't if JMoney wouldn't stand behind their products.
I look forward to your final decision.

$5 shipping?  Meh.  Roll with it.

$5 one way, Im guessing you would have to send both back to him. It would be hard to match another one I guess.

So if he is asking for shipping to be paid both way @ $10+ I would somewhat have a problem with it. It should have never been shipped in the first place. Im sure it looked the same way when it left his house.

Shipping was $15 each way. It was shipped from Canada. It's not unreasonable for me not to pay from shipping on the exchange to me. The ear pad should not have left the door to a customer. Putting another $30 on top of the $91 I already paid is not reasonable IMO. It just shows how he treats his customers. Screw them once and screw them again.

I took a few shots of my stock pads as well as the J$ version two and version three pads.  None is a perfect mirror of the other, but I find them all to be within reason.  The lack of symmetry in the OP's pads would probably drive me nuts though.

J$ V.2 Pads:

J$ V.3 Pads:

Now I think your being very unreasonable... He made a leather pad that has absolutely nothing wrong with it other than varying aesthetic qualities and your saying damaging things like this because he won't cater to you? He did his part whether you agree or not, he delivered the product that you asked for and no where in the agreement of purchase did it guarantee that it would be an exact replica of what is shown on the site. This is less of J$ screwing you over and more of you screwing him. If you want a pad that looks exactly as you seemingly expected then its on you to sacrifice the money to get him to ship it out to you, I think he is being more than fair. Otherwise live with the fact that your headphone pads don't look as pretty as you had hoped. In the end he's the one taking the hit from this not you.

Bringing up the issue itself is not a problem and you do in fact deserve what you paid for but not at the over expense of J$. I mean he is already willing to give you a free $40 pad that probably took him quite a bit of time to hand make, be happy with that. You've taken it a little bit too far in my opinion. My J$ V3 Denon pad's are nowhere near identical and it has absolutely no affect on their fit, comfort, usability, or sonic qualities.

My 2 cents

If i am buying something online and there is a picture of what you are getting in front of me. I would think what I am paying for is what is pictured. If his website had a picture of the end product from the ops pictures, I sure as hell wouldnt have ordered them. People work hard for money and shouldnt have to pay more for something that should have been done right before it was ever shipped.

That logic works if it's not a hand crafted item like this where none of the pads will look exactly identical.

Who said I'm getting a new ear pad for free? The guy said exchange not replace. Exchange meaning I send him my pads he sends me another pair. I don't have a problem with paying shipping on a replacement pad, but not paying shipping on both pads both ways, again.
If he had some quality control prior to shipping, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
