2 IEMs, 1 good ear each = One new pair?

I have two pairs of Shure e2c's,  one with a working left speaker, and one with a working right speaker.  Is it possible to clip the cable of a good one and then splice it in in place of the bad one on the other set?

Are there any good step by step guides on how to strip, separate, mate, and solder  (I have 0 experience or equipment but I can get stuff in Akihabara I guess)? I searched the forums but every article I found was about re-cabling phones to the plug rather than splicing them above the Y split.

I would go with splicing them AT the y-split, but it depends where the bad connection is. I have e2c's as well and they are starting to go but I cant for the life of me figure out where the bad connection is, weather its the jack, the y, at the driver, or somewhere in between.

Also, soldering those tiny iem-cables, where the isolation has usually been painted on can be a pain, but it can definitely be done.
