Budget Computer Speaker buying advice?

Hey Guys, wanted to pick up a set of replacement speakers for my PC. Don't have a big budget, probably £65 tops. Kind of liked the idea of not having a dedicated woofer. These will be mainly used for listening to music (soul, funk, reggae, jazz, hiphop, dance, drum&bass, house etc) and also for online audio, films/tv and maybe a small bit of basic audio editing. In the future I will be buying a proper soundcard too (at the moment I am just using the standard on board card)

So far I have come up with two options...

Genius SP-HF1800A

Edifier Studio R1600T

Which would be better? Is there anything else I should consider? Any help appreciated.

The fact that you're not showing Logitech speakers is a really big step in the right direction. Always buy your speakers from a company that does audio and not one that also does audio.

M-Audio AV 30's would fit the bill for you. They're also a name you find thrown around the forums a lot. Creative is a pretty good speaker maker in that price range as well.

My recommend would be a set of Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 speakers but they run for around $250 and are pretty hard to find this side of the atlantic. I love mine. I also found them for $200 new on eBay...

Edifier Studio R1600T there an excellent buy for £65, they handle bass alot better than the m-audios av range.

I would go vintage. A pair of "working" vintage speakers can be found as low at $50 and an amp around $150

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated. I have heard good things about the edifier units, the m_audio's had been on my radar too. In terms of vintage, while i'm sure you can probably get some great gear for cheap, unfortunately I lack the knowledge or the ear to really know what too look for.

To be honest I'm no audiophile, just need something solid to replace my standard old dell speakers until I have the funds to go all in on some proper studio monitors.
