Am I doing something wrong in the FS forums?

Thread Starter

I've had a few items out there for a while now, am I being unreasonably impatient or is it just really hard to get a start selling without any head-fi feedback?  Any suggestions on how to alleviate buyer worries?  I'm pretty sure I have competitive prices.

Any hints would be helpful, I have a lot of experience selling on different bulletin boards but not with this sort of gear.

Thanks!

I don't think Your doing anything wrong, if nobody is looking for these particular item's at this time they will sit. Try making a new for sale/trade thread and list all 3 together and delete the other 3. You will bring it back to the 1st page, no harm, no foul. Good Luck!

There is no need to delete and recreate any for sale ad. There is an option to "bump" your ad to the top every few days.

I get mixed results. Some things I've sold, which I know have been in demand, sold quickly.  Some things I've had sitting for months with hardly an enquiry, then suddenly a bunch of people PM me.

I don't know. Sales can be fickle - you never know what someone else wants.

When I've sold, I try to price everything slightly under market and roll the shipping and PayPal fees into a single price. That makes it a lot easier to reach agreement in a PM or two. Ship propmtly and give a tracking number ASAP. I always try to get packages out the next business day.

Just put Audio GD or Schiit in the title... doesn't matter what it is it'll be sold in seconds. rolleyes.gif

On a more realistic note if you list something to competitive used prices it may take its sweet time to sell, on the other hand price it below the going rate and it's likely to sell quickly.

Ha! Try that with something like one of the big DACs. "Shipping will be a bazillion dollars to your country due to the weight."

That advice about pricing though can be extended. Buying second-hand gear which is very reasonably priced will often work out if you decides to resell it later, as you can often get your money back.
