I know that it's not for everyone and that everyone's ride here is different. But over the past year I've gravitated towards a more balanced and flat response. That's not to say boring and analytical is my thing now. I still like impressive bass but only when the material calls for it. 

 

I think that a year ago I would have wanted to send the gr07 back also. But I found them at the right time to really be able to enjoy them. I used to be all about the bass and fun sound. Now what I get the most enjoyment from are mids and balance.

Well, I ended up purchasing a group of iem's and the GR 07 was one. Needless to say they are now all going to be gifted. I enjoyed the Vsonic the most but will save up for some UM3X's. I might re-buy the 07's if they don't float my boat.

For me, edm strikes me as a form of ear-rape, so I can't comment on that.  How complicated could trance be? Isn't it generally down-tempo? Can electronic music be well-mastered? It's just ones and zeroes, so I would imagine it's hard to get any kind of soundstage with that stuff.

There's NOTHING thin about the GR07's. Either you're used to ridiculously bassy sound sigs or you have a bad pair of GR07's or you have no idea how to get a decent seal.

can you guys help me identify my gr07s. I'm trying to sell them since I couldn't get used to wearing them. It came with tons of tips, ear guides, black leather pouch. The box doesn't say anything.

^^^ its the gr07 mk1 or aka the original gr07..I have as well, but my favorite one so far is the mk2,then the bass edition.

 they sound just like the apple ear buds , very thin sound with nothing to it

Just spent some quality time with my Gr07 BE running through my headstage arrow and what a nice time it was. The rich, tight bass was just fantastic (threw my MTPG a couple times and noticed just how bloated and muffled bass was). Just love the sound of all the drums and then you hear crisp detailed highs. These are just great IEMs for everything I listen too.

That is a bizarre set of comments. Trance can be very complex, indeed there are a variety of styles of EDM that can be very complex. Trance is not at all down-tempo, perhaps you are confusing it with things like Psybient? (psychadelic ambient)

 

Of course electronic music can be poorly or well mastered, there are a variety of forms of electronic music where actual instruments are played and recorded (try Shpongle for one such example) never mind the fact that soundstage is of particular relevance in some forms of electronic music (try Entheogenic, Shpongle, 12 Micrograms, Kalya Scintilla)

 

Your prejudices and pre-conceived notions regarding how electronic music is generated, recorded and mastered bear little relation to reality and are just a horrible generalisation.

I know, I'm taking the piss a bit. I am absolutely guilty of making a sweeping generalisation, but I will check out Shpongle who many have mentioned to see what the fuss is about. I do enjoy Kid A which has a lot of blips and beeps, etc. EDM is still ear-rape to me, like R2D2 having a seizure or something.

As much as your comments sound prejudice, anyone making generalizations about your opinions is just as prejudiced. I find that ironic on these boards most of the time. No worries from my end. Glad you are standing up for your opinion.
