That is a bizarre set of comments. Trance can be very complex, indeed there are a variety of styles of EDM that can be very complex. Trance is not at all down-tempo, perhaps you are confusing it with things like Psybient? (psychadelic ambient)
Of course electronic music can be poorly or well mastered, there are a variety of forms of electronic music where actual instruments are played and recorded (try Shpongle for one such example) never mind the fact that soundstage is of particular relevance in some forms of electronic music (try Entheogenic, Shpongle, 12 Micrograms, Kalya Scintilla)
Your prejudices and pre-conceived notions regarding how electronic music is generated, recorded and mastered bear little relation to reality and are just a horrible generalisation.
