Congratulations on reading my mind better than I could.

The cables are a bit thick and do like to slip off my small ears but I find the included plastic ear guides are the best I've used. The Phonak silicone ones are nice but don't stay on my ear as well, and the cheap ones that come with the Senn IE8 are pretty much useless. I like the thickness and coating material of the cable, makes it seem really high-end.

These GR07 earphones gave me an unique experience..

It's a strange kind of earphone, that doesn't amaze you from the beginning (with small exception of course), and as time pass, you start appreciate them on any sort of music, till you end up totally fallen in love with these...

In my memory, all the stuff I had previously used made me like them or dislike, from the beginning till the end... These GR07 don't stop surprising me, and the more time I use them, the better these sound, not just slightly better, really, these do much , much better ... 

Same experience here with the cable compounded by the fact that the ear guides are impossible to wear with glasses.

However, just removing all torque from the cable (straigthening it out) and using the chin slider solves the issue.

Pity mine have failed - I sure have bad luck with IEMs. (both with thieves, random accidents and manufacturing defects)

Right channel went dead 2 days ago - it's in flight for a replacement.

Seems Brainwavz M2 can edge it out over GR07 after equalization... I'd compare them colorfully like that: M2 is slightly yellowish vintage paper smoothed out by years of use, GR07 is slightly grayish new harsher paper.

Got mine last night. Have listened to them for a few hours.

I love the bass which is textured, extends low and has the right impact!!!! In fact I like that better than the SE535's.

Someday I'll do comparison with the FX700 and SE535.

So far I'm impressed, definitely money well spent

I have ordered some Comply T200's and hope that they improve SQ and isolation.

Cosign on all of this.  Out of the box, they definitely sound a bit bland, excessively warm & sibilant.. coming from a more musical phone.. these differences will be even more stark.

I said this about the 003 & I'll say it again about the GR07.. if you didn't believe in burn in, you will after you've heard the GR07 from out of the box to 200 hours.. They simply transform into a noticeably different, more refined phone.

Being patient with them and letting your ears adjust to the signature.. I've grown to really love how they sound and find them to be very engaging.. the neutral, crisp, detailed, dynamic sound that's wonderfully layered in presentation.. all tied together with an exquisite smoothness.. it's really a unique sound that may come across as non-descript to many.. but give it time and they will reveal their beauty to your ears.

Now.. should I get custom sleeves for them?

wow just listened to "Nobodys Perfect", by dios / album "dios".

The bass is mind altering at the beginning, and it keeps going. I thought i was going to start hearing terrible distortion. 

Nope, just head shaking bass. 

Rock boxed sansa fuze / unamped.

I'd have to agree with the comment about the foam tips.  They are great but they pull the cores out real easily.  Did that the first time i switched tips. 

As for the GR07s.  They are a really nice IEM.  Some harshness with sibilance (only 8 hours so far).  But, i don't mind it.  For the music I listen to, it almost compliments the cymbals.  There is something that these IEMs do very well that not even my phonak's or K701s can mimic.  It is something with the weight or attack of the drum kits.  The GR07 just adds this depth to snare hits and I love it.  Almost like the hits envelope you.  I have nothing but praise for these phones.  At times they seem a little on the dark side and things become muddled in the fact that clarity is sorta lost to the warmth.  If that makes sense.

These IEMs also make me want to bob my head, more so than the 701s and phonaks.

I'd love to hear what the next logical step-up from these would be.  Not that I'd do that anytime soon.

The build quality is perfectly fine for me, nothing to complain

I can say I'm absolutely in love with these. The experience is absolutely amazing. Has curbed my iem ambitions for quite a long bit and I'm pretty sure I'll keep these.

Customs, perhaps?
