""Alot of dubstep has been mentioned already, but not all dubstep has crazy sub bass, check out stuff by ephixa like some wobbles, awesome to the max, and the zelda step album. Also look at still gettin it by foreign beggars and skrillex. Oh and mt eden. And then there is pendulum/ knife party for dnb and dubstep lots of bass there as well.""

Yo I'm definitely gonna check out some of the dub step you mentioned, im curious to see how my phones sound!

""Is rumbling sub bass more sought after than punchy mid bass?"""

Since I got my new headphones and heard what I been missing(rich detailed music), i just want a pair of phones that can perform if sub bass is needed, to get that whole effect u know?..in all fields  highs mids bass and sub.. does that even exist :P?..super phones!!

Lil Waynes (GUN WALK) has sweet punchy mid bass through the entire song :)

I think "Bass I Love You" by the Bassotronics is kind of goofy, but it has ultra low frequencies going to down around 10hz or so. Great for seeing what kind of low sub bass response you are getting.

Those low frequencies are not so much rumble as vibrate, and apparently a lot of the bass notes are 30hz, 25hz and 20hz: http://www.avforums.com/forums/10002880-post49.html

In my house, my dual 18" subs make the whole room vibrate with it biggrin.gif Gotta have a pair of headphones that really excel at ultra low frequencies, and then you can pick up the vibration.

Wikipedia even lists this song on their bass tests page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_test

Just found an amazing album for testing bass: Excavation by The Haxan Cloack.

Here's on of the songs on Youtube. It doesn't sound as good as the cd, but it still works pretty well:

At around 1:40, the bass drops really low.

Biosphere - Oi-1: I use this one simply to check for extension. There's a constant very low tune playing throuhgout the song.

I Awake - Complete Garden - Eternal forest Edit: Especially the beginning works well. Forest sounds alongside a very low rumble. If the bass drowns other frequencies you'll definitely hear it here.

Tyler, the creator awkward, the sub bass is pretty good.

Really it all comes down to testing with music that appeals to you. Some will like deep textured bass and others will prefer rattled your molars bass. For me, here's a couple:

Doug MacLeod: Black Nights (oh my the texture)

Jennifer Warnes: Bird on a Wire
