Fostex monitor speakers and my iMac 27inch

Thread Starter

I am new to the forum and I hope that this is the correct place for this

I am upgrading my current editing/work station and one of the main things I am looking to do is hook up a pair of Fostex RM865 reference monitors to my iMac for playback from FCP as well as music, etc.

I acquired the speakers from a buddy of mine who upgraded his home studio a few years back. I have been looking al over to try and find out what I will need to a.) power the speaks since I know they require an amp and b.) What I will need to hook them up to my iMac as external speakers.

I'm a college student so I am looking for a fairly budget friendly solution if at all possible. Thanks in advance.

Hmm, can't find too much about them but one thing I did come across was the user manual: http://wegavision.pytalhost.com/RM765-865.pdf

Handy if you don't have one.

There 8ohm with 150watts power handling , any amp 8ohm speaker amp will drive them, if you want to keep the uncoloured netruel sound of the monitors then you will need a studio amp , I recommend the samson servo 300 or 600 or behringer a500 both are powerful with a flat frequency responce, the amps require a rca input I don't know what outputs the imac has.
