In my opinion C3 kind of jumps straight past C2 for comparisons. I've been using the S9 instead. I;d love to let you listen to it actually.

I'm not a Cowon hater, necessarily....I have owned a couple. If the i9 hadn't had such a cluster- UI and touchpad, I would have happily kept it. It was certainly better sounding than the original D2 that I had at the same time, and I did have it set where I was getting very nice sound out of it.  The BBE effect and most of the presets on it just sounded too artificial to me, but I did use some Mach3Bass and Stereo Enhance (not 3D surround...that also was no good).

I just think people get a little too hyper about the BBE, thinking it is the best thing ever, that's all. (Just like there are Sony guys, and Sansa guys, and iPod guys)  Just think,  at one point I had 4 or 5 Sansas running Rockbox, and I'm down to just one now, as my ultraportable....lol

Can't wait to get my C3, I know that I'll just want a C4 shortly after though and my wallet just can't take that sort of abuse.

WIll import though, £150 on amazon versus £60 on eBay, silly prices.

No to mention advanced mp3 players are having a joke selling it at £150, lol

Is the C3 a good step up from the Clip+? Play the same formats, UI easy to navigate?

Inquiring minds need to know these things.

I've bought Clip+ two days ago and must say that it sounds awesome for the price. But not sure if C3 would be a step up at all maybe even downgrade. Waiting for Fiio X3 to come out. This definitely must be an upgrade. Until then I see no point to go away from Clip.

c3 is definetly an upgrade to the clip imo.

Let's not forget vintage stuff! iRiver H120/140 sounds great, is rockboxable, can be modded with CF-card and has got optical out. Right now I'm amazed by my recent purchase Rio Karma (just like the iRiver it was released in 2003). Very powerful sound and for the first time no EQ at all is needed. It sounds the best with a flat EQ setting.
