I have compared the fiio low profile LOD, a solid silver LOD and a picolino silver LOD and there is indeed more treble information and sense of space in general. But the fiio products certainly are not totally outclassed.

Chrishimself made me a silver LOD quite some time back and it was a bargain compare to the big name brands. If you want something that I think is a work of art then check out the cables  and LOD's made by Qusp.  Seriously nice in my opinion.

Upgraded silver headphones cables will make a similar change to sound. Silver may sound bright and this innitially makes the bass seem withdrawn slightly but once fully burned in the top end will smooth out and the bass will be a little snappier. I was amazed at the improvement that a silver headphone cable did to my old Triplefi x's. They were transformed from a bass heavy and slightly mid lacking iem to seriously closing the gap towards the quality of a custom. I would never own them again without a silver cable. They were that much nicer.

And lastly. Copper cables tends to favour bass. Silver is more top end change and silver plated copper tends to be a combination impact. Who would have thought!

These are just my own personal observations from my own playing with headfi gear. Hope it helps. Cheers.

Also, see the sound science subforum, for more information on this topic - and on the issues involved in objectively measuring, and evaluating the effects cables do or do not have. As with anything, do your research before spending money.

I would love to see some research supporting this claim.

Even better than research and reading. Get out there and borrow a LOD in your own rig and make up your own mind. There are a lot of cynics out there. Just because some things can't be explained doesn't mean they don't exist.

if you can pass a double blind test hearing differences in cables regarding frequency response or anything else, you should alert the media, b/c you will be the first human being to ever do so, and you will have proven that your ears are more sensitive at discerning frequency changes than the best equipment on earth... just sayin ;-)  carry on.

I don't need to prove or demonstrate anything. I am happy and loving the rig that I have developed. The experimentation is now a journey for others to take and form their own views on. Hopefully there are no trolls out there forcing their views on others.

I've already had plenty experience with expensive cables, thank you very much.

Not that hearing or not hearing any differences actually get you any closer to the truth, qualified scientific research, that's the shiz.

Glad that you feel that way Limp'. Others are yet to arrive at their own conclusions. Have the courtesy to let them do as they please.

Keep it on topic. Cable debates are boring at the best of times, but more so when they are off-topic!

Agree.  No more wasting time.

You know the Clip+ is a great player when you see it with IEMs that are over 10 times its price biggrin.gif

Try 25 times! but its true.  I have a full desktop right right next to me that is capable of accomodating the es5's, and frankly the clip+ holds its own just as well.  Low impedance, high sensitivity IEM's, combined with a player that measures really well, and a great EQ system, and I tell you I'm amazed.

I never thought anything but something like the LCD-3 would give my 2's a run for their money, and certainly not IEM's be them customs or not.

Finally have some decent IEMs! Very happy with them so far and can't wait for them to get better. Awaiting a Fiio LOD now. Chose it because it was the cheapest low profile one, and they're hard to find in Aus for a decent price when you're basically broke haha
Apologies for the quality, phone camera just doesn't cut it but have zero use for a camera

VSonic GR-07s with 5.5g ipod
