Static electricity... In my shorts.

I wen for a dog-walk today with my RE0's and iPod Touch 2g. The shorts I elected to wear were for my tennis match, and they came out of the dryer all staticky. As I started playing music, I slipped my iPod back into my pocket, and started hearing odd snaps and crackles as I walked. I freaked out because I thought there was something wrong with the cable, so I pulled the iPod out of my pocket and gave the stress relief and the rest of the cable on the RE0's a once over, while also noticing the symptoms had disappeared. Perplexed, I slipped it back into my pocket. Problems. Repeated the process, this time wiggling the stress relief around and still experiencing NO problems. I put it back into my pocket and tried to hold it in place... I felt the hair on my arms stand up as it neared the pocket. I thought nothing of it because they had been staticky all day. When holding the iPod firmly in my pocket, not crackling and popping, but the minute I took my hand off and away from the metal backed iPod, the crackles returned.

Could the power in my shorts (tongue.gif) have caused the crackles?

No doubt.

If you insist on wearing synthetics, take a tip from the women.

Well, I don't insist per se, but they're part of the College's tennis team uniform and most tennis players wear a moisture wicking synthetic for matches nowadays... I wear tennis shorts a lot but this was the first time they came out of the dryer staticky. I think I forgot to use a dryer sheet.
