A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

I auditioned the SRH-1840 straight out of the box, and was unsatisfied with the sound, so I decided to give them a period of break-in. Recent scientific studies have shown definite differences...

The numbers on the bottom of the tube should be enough to just type it in on Google and go from there.

Very few tubes have numbers printed on their bases. It was usually screened on the side.
I have a box of old tubes without lettering on them - they are difficult to identify.
The best bet is to get a copy of the RCA receiving tube manual. You might be able to narrow them down by the bases and looking at the innards. But the book doesn't cover everything.
I'm still not sure what to do with the box of tubes. Maybe take them out in the desert with the .45. Possibly put them up here for $20 and shipping. Or maybe get a bunch of cheap plastic sockets so I can light the filaments and make sort of a tube light fixture/sculpture.

What stops me is the potential of putting a bullet through a rare tube. That would be painful.
Further, I have a lot of fun demolishing paper targets, bottles, burned-out lightbulbs, and other worthless stuff.
Back when I was kid, my sister and I took out a Luke Skywalker action figure with some firecrackers. Good fun. Later, I learned that it was a rare model worth something like $1,200.
I'd hate to do something like that again.

(ill keep the big tubes, since the chances are bigger tubes being rarer are higher(between me and you))
