Auzentech X-Fi Prelude: what needs to be checked to use the digital ouput?

Thread Starter

I sold my Auzentech X-Fi Prelude to a friend that lives in another state and now he is trying to use a DAC with the card and can't seem to find what to check to get the coaxial digital out to work.

I'm trying to help him but it's very difficult when you no longer have the software on your computer to go through with him. If anyone knows what needs to be checked or what changes need to be made to use the digital out I'd really appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

Tell him to go the Windows Control Panel -> Hardware & Sound -> Manage Audio Devices

Under the Playback tab find the digital output. It should be called something like "S/PDIF Digital Out". Select that option and hit the "Set Default" button. Apply the change and you should be good to go.
