Computer speakers?

Hey guys im looking for some good computer speakers..perferably 2.1 or just 2 that have nice hard hitting bass and good mids and highs. They will be used mainly for music but some tv shows and movies. I dont really want to break the bank so i dont want to go over 200. I was looking at the logitech z2300 i think thats what they are....but im sure theres got to be others out there that are better.

Thank you for all the input

EDIT....I saw  the swan M-10..are they compareable to the d1080?

After being a Logitech fanboy for so many years and then learning what quality equipment sounds like, I would stay away from any Logitech speakers. They do peripherals well, but audio isn't their strong suit.

Here's a few in that price range that I would suggest checking out:

Swan D1080MkII08

Klipsch ProMedia 2.1

Audioengine 2

M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 (Although be aware that their customer service is reported to be terrible/non-existent)

The only one's I haven't heard are the Swans, but I can still safely say that every one is going to be vastly superior to the Logitech's.

Here's another to consider if you don't mind raising your budget to $250, Prodipe Pro Ribbon 5 Powered Studio Monitors. Here's the manufacturer's page. The Prodipe's aren't that well known in the U.S. yet as they're a French product.

Here's a Head-Fi thread with an owner of the Ribbon 8s. If you read that thread you'll see where I was advised against the ribbon version as they have a much smaller sweet spot than the non-ribbon version and I will be using them in a mid-field setup. So if you move around a lot you might consider the non-ribbon version instead.

One caveat though the 5s only go down to 50 hz (which is pretty good actually) but it might not satisfy your need for bass as a 2.0 setup.

Also interestingly, I ordered the non-ribbon 8s (should be here tomorrow) and I'm upgrading from Logitechs. wink.gif

While researching this I've read good things about the Swans and the Audioengine A2s as well and you can probably find them for much cheaper but consider a possible need for a subwoofer in that calculation.

Ok I'll shut up now. biggrin.gif

I was also going to mention that the non-ribbon version of the 5s (Pro 5) is only $200. Won't have to worry about the sweet spot as much but lose the advantages of a ribbon tweeter. They also go down to 50 hz so like the ribbons.

If you head to eBay you can find a pair of Acoustic Energy Aego M speakers for around $200. Trust me when I say they're worth the money. They're not going to perform like some higher-end systems but they are leagues ahead of anything Logitech sells.

I think you'd be happy with them. The website that sells them says that they'll be back Spring 2011 so that's anytime now. If you don't mind waiting the price is pretty good (although if minimum shipping is $40 I don't know).

I'm not familiar with it but the specs look pretty good. Other than the fact that the only inputs are listed as "MP3 two-channel soundcard miniplug".

personally i think the promedia 2.1 has a little too much bass..even when i turned the sub almost all the way down, i felt it was just bloaty bass...fwir, the m10 sub is very light on bass - so i don't know how well it'd satisfy your requirement for the bass. there is someone selling a set of m10's for 130 shipped on the forum or 90 for local pickup i believe in Philly.
