Shure SRH440s and the HiFiMan EF2

Hey guys

I recently purchased a pair of Shure SRH440s and I was looking into getting an amp too. I would love a better bass response and just a general audio improvement if I can get it. I was looking into the HiFiMan EF2 and id love your opinions on this setup. I am only a student so my funds are very limited. To be honest this is pushing my budget already. I was looking into extra tubes and although I won’t be purchasing these yet are they recommended?

I have also read that vintage tubes give a better sound; I can find these two on eBay. Out of curiosity which ones would be better??

Thanks guys

The second ones are better I think because they are type 5654, someone correct me if I am wrong. The ones I use in the EF2A are RCA 5654, try searching for those, they sound great IMO.

ahh ok, in general would purchasing this amp improve the bass response of the headphones?

Hmmm. . . why you want a DAC/AMP for a pair of $100 headphones with a fairly low impedance and high sensitivity anyway. . . not sure it will make that much of a difference tbh.

Ahh ok

So you guys think that buying an amp for his pair of headphones to run from my sound card would not be worth it?
