E9 as preamp

Thread Starter

Does anyone have any experience using the 3.5 variable out on the E9 to feed an amp?  If so, is it quiet?

Also, I've read that many have experienced a static type noise when adjusting the volume with music playing.  I'm wondering if this noise also passes to speakers (or is it limited to phone listening).

Is there anyone with an E9 that could test this functionality for me?

Thanks!

That isnt restricted to the E9, and I have a simple fix. From the day you get your amp, make every effort to ensure that you dont get any dirt in the volume pot. My D4 was clean for a long time, but as soon as I started throwing it in my backpack I started having the symptoms you describe. The P4, straight from the factory, is the clearest portable I have heard (admittedly not a large sample, and all from iBasso), but I know that my slovenly ways put that at risk. Given that neither the D4 nor the P4 puts out much heat, I would even consider wrapping them in a plastic sleeve - clearly not a good idea with a mains-powered amp.

When we first bought computers, many of us took the time to place a sheet over the system when powered down - unfortunately, its not a habit I have carried into audio.

I use it in my car as a pre amp, and I can hear very little noise....
