Well there are the pics..from what i see that the differences between the Leather pads there is no differences..its just that Hifiman added some padding under the pads.but the velour pads is really GREAT..its much more softer and thicker then the previous one and the best part is that Hifiman changed the cheap plastic cup holding where it used to break every time we try to change the pads..

and now the Cables, this is a silver at around 24AWG - 26AWG silver cable its thin and light and quite stiff..the sound is much better then the previous Carane cable that was provided..it has more detail and more fast..bass is somehow more clearer and rounder and the mids is a little bit thinner than the Canare.since its just a few hours burn-in i could not say much about the cables..

Now im using my Beyerdynamic DT990 velour pads for my HE-500 the quality is much better then the velour pads that Hifiman supplied.i just swapped my old leather pads cups and installed it on to the Beyer pads..its a quite easy installation just needed 5mins and a Beyer DT series velour pads..since my HE-500 is using the DT990 pads i can feel more bass and thicker mids than before..maybe its because there is no dust cover in the DT990 pads or maybe PLACEBO EFFECT...but i feel it..

oh i forgot..if anyone is using the older version leather pads and feel your ears are touching the drivers just do a simple thing..Try to find a Styrofoam (like those from packaging boxes) and cut out a round disk around 10cm and then make a hole but leave out around 1cm - 2cm (like the black one on picture no.6) and then just stuff it under your leather pads..For references see pictures..its the one on the Beyer DT990 the white foam..

Enjoy the pics..

This is interesting because in the other HE-500 thread blankdisc posted pictures of the new cable and his seems to be copper.

In that picture it looks like the HE-6 cable without the XLR plug...

i guess mine is the new HE-500 cable imo...

The review pair arrived today and they also appear to be the same copper cable as the HE6 but without the balanced connection and a 1/4 adapter over the 1/8 jack. I have asked Fang for a clarification. The new pads are an improvement over the former pads and come with the leather and new velour pads as a backup. These need some burn in. Overall finish is also better than the loaner program pair I had.

That's great Frank. I'm really looking forward to your review/impressions.

Same here Frank, look forward to it. I like the copper cable but they oxidize after a while. I wonder if I can exchange mine.

I am sure you can look into an aftermarket cable. these appear to be the 6 cable without the neutrix connector making it lighter for single ended use. I like light cables. I am waiting for fang to confirm copper because there appears to be a silver floating around also.

I hope its not just silver plated copper. I think I'll just go the diy route, solid core pure silver.

it looks like all copper to me. I see no silver on the pair I have IMO it looks like the 6cable single ended only but I will post and get it clarified.

I have LCD2 and HE500s connected to Zodiac gold ...

I am liking and listening to LCDs more - even though 500s have more detail ...

Question - how to get more bass out of LCDs ...

It is possible that headphone section of Zodiac is not powerful enough for 500s ...

Thanks

Sunil

Interesting...

I have the same headphones driven by Roc. I find LCD-2 (rev. 1) more detailed and with all the bass one (no-basshead) can hope for. HE-500 has the edge only in soundstaging.

(HE-500 with HE-6 OCC cable; LCD-2 with Norse Audio 8-wire OCC cable; both differentially driven)
