Since quite a few of you HE500 owners have received and installed the modded pads made by Modulor, could you guys try out the EQ I tailored for it?

The file is an EQ profile used by Electri-Q, which is a VST parametric EQ plugin usable with Foobar2k via VST-DSP wrapper.

Update on my jerg impressions..this time about the comfort.
This is a bit negative

As u know i use a comfy chair to listen to music..and most of times its on relaxing/sleeping mode....and now comes my problem..while resting on the cushion with my head..the soft cushioning blocks the venting mod on the backside of the pad..am not sure yet if it affects the sound a lot..but it does close off the openings....

Thats a big negative..as i guess most of us listen to the he500 in a comfy chair and not sitting straight up..as its a bit heavy if u listen with it on ur head for at least 3 hours as i do....i will check it further..

funny no one else mentioned this before.

But the sound is growing on me..listening to rhianna now..lossless quality ...damn..some of her songs has bass that i almost can feel!! So powerfull..her voice sounds velvetly and natural..so i guess my ears are starting to get customed to the new soundsignature.
It sounds very natural...the transistion from midrange to treble is more fluently now..and that bass! biggrin.gif

Only about 18 hours or so into break in here. One thing for certain, they are heavy. Well, compared to my DT990s and AH-D7000s. Possibly too heavy for multi-hour sessions. Perhaps bending the band more will help. Any suggestions?

Use a thicker headband cushion.

Also if it clamp too hard you can bend the headband as well.

I bent the band (due to my large noggin) and added a headband pad that really helped.

This one from amazon:

Yes, they are one of the heavier headphones out there, and I know what you mean.  I think it depends on head shape, and for me I happened to have discomfort on the top of my head after long sessions.  You can bend the band a bit and it will retain it's shape, but you may want to look into adding an extra headband pad or like in my case, I found that GREQ's comfy strap worked perfectly.  I can now wear them for hours with no problem!  Here is a link to his post here - AFAIK he is no longer making them, but it's a pretty simple design and it's easily detachable:

I believe it is. I think it's interesting that company has it listen for hifiman headphones. They're catching onto the market. Wish hifiman would do that (at least in terms of comfort, they got the other parts down.)

lol yea he is deff a happy guy. Sometimes goes over the top and blows stuff out of proportion, but definitely a cheerful guy. Even if he were to get Beats, his post would look something like this:

The back-vent mod is honestly the most subtle mod out of all 4 steps, I did it at the time mainly for the sake of giving the pads a slight bit of angling (which helps with center imaging, and helps distance my ears away from touching the drivers), and incidentally having openings between the pieces tucked under the pads helped make the sound slightly more open. Slightly is the keyword here.

I too from time to time listen to music while lying down, and it really doesn't impact anything having the back sides obstructed.
