Haha nice. Is it too early to ask what amp you are looking at getting built next? Or do we have to wait for 3 months?

I think i mentioned it already in a post in this thread..but i can be wrong..

The order was placed back in june

.. my amp is custommade and is based on his bigger brother the NSL..but with balanced headphone xlr out only and only with usb input..nothing else..

not even an on-off switch..and my amp will be having 5 watts into 50ohm instead of the 28watts of the original NSL speaker amp..and the transformer will be in a seperate case as it wont fit inside the main case of my amp..and no feet ( i have my own very special feet i used on my 337)..it will be totally black with the wooden volume knob being genuine red cherry and the front will be glossy black..not wood.

Regarding sound: and i quote Gilbert the builder..the amp will have same sound as the NSL..being very dynamic and with lots of punch but only made to drive headphones..not speakers.. End quote

Here u have recent interesting reviews about the NSL if ur interested..have fun reading wink.gif

http://www.ultraaudio.com/index.php/equipment-menu/286-blue-circle-audio-nsl-stereo-amplifier

http://www.theaudiobeat.com/equipment/blue_circle_nsl.htm

pic to give u an idea how it will look like..only mine will only have one cherry red volume knob, dual 3pins xlr out..but the case and front will be the same

red cherry wooden knob like this other blue circle amp:

and as i said earlier...i wont be mentioning this amp on this thread anymore... as soon i have more info with in-process pics i will start a new thread about that amp...for anyone interested biggrin.gif

How many watts into 50 ohm? Still 'only' 5 or did you get it upgraded?

Yes, for a while now if you followed the other thread.  It's working great.

Ah I just caught up...nice work! Definitely love it. Saves having to make an adapter to speaker taps/bananas. I'm sure others are going to start asking you to mod theirs.

Everyone who owns the HE500 needs to hear them with Modulor's jergpads.

oops sorry....its 5 watt into 50ohm (in class AB?) as its specific designed/made to drive my future he6 " id="yui_3_10_0_1_1375794583671_1201" rel="http://files.head-fi.org/images/smilies/wink.gif">wink.gif

damn u see everything..lolz..thanks!!

and now Gilbert is looking (on my request)into finding space in the case to upgrade the power to 8 watts (as someone said here that that would be the optimal power for the he6) as he is not sure it will fit in the case as the amp is opamp based..and those need space to fit (see inside of NSL)...he will  inform me in time if its possible and what the extra cost will be..

.but i guess if its not possible then, as the EF6 also 'only' has 5watts, into 50 ohm then 5 watts would be enough.. but u know me..i always want to be different and get the best i can get for my money.

Wildly divergent opinions, I like mine best with velour. Prepo like his best with Denon leather pad, several other owners like theirs best with Stax O2 pad bigsmile_face.gif

Most people (myself included) with Hifiman headphones have not had the privilege to test all possible earpad selections, so these opinions are often just due to a set of earpads sounding nice and the owner abiding by it, not from strict comparisons with 5 other sets.

Thus far I've only personally tested the Hifiman stock pl and vel pads, JMoney Beyer pads, and Audeze pads. My perception of other earpads e.g. stock Denon pads / O2 pads / Alpha pads are all still just extrapolation from others' opinions of them.

What is certain is that the HFM pleathers offer some unique characteristics that almost all other compatible pads do not have; the pleathers being shallow offer more gentle clamping, as well as a smoother midrange~treble transition, than other pads which are almost always thicker. Now this you can't mod to compensate for.
