I really wanted to get an Audio-GD amp, but their stuff have very splitted opinions outside head-fi. That makes me a little afraid. I've seen some measurements where it measures really bad. I know that measurements aren't everything but even so, that doesn't help making my mind.

Anyway, I've got a good deal on a Soloist and a V200. Between the two, which one do you think is the best amp?

I would go for the Soloist in a heartbeat

Thanks for your opinion.

I see you have a Soloist, a Lyr and a Mjolnir. How would you rank them?

I'll chime in here. I have a Mjolnir and the HE-500 doesn't sound the best off it IMO. I prefer a more laid back amp for them, which is where the Soloist shines. YMMV.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I just lost the deal on the Burson. I'm a bit out of luck lately. Guess I'll have to wait until another one shows up...

There are other amps that really shine with the he500... So no need te be sad. biggrin.gif
Maybe we can make a small list which amps excel (own experiences ofcourse)

Let me start:

337 (ofcourse ..some of u will say...but its the amp making me doing this..arrrggg. biggrin.gif. ).. But with right tubes! Or 339...and its affordable..only pain in the ass is communicating with them and getting one from china to ur doorstep!!..certainly a risk to consider..but to me..worth it.

Soloist..although expensive! Nice built..tank like..very strong!

V200....not cheap also.. ... Does very well with audezes as well!!! Just in case u wanna upgrade to a lcd 2 or 3 tongue.gif

EDIT!! v200 is made in germany...my apologies!

Ef6.. Amp made for the he6.. But also does well with he500... EXPENSIVE..but future proof if u wanna upgrade to he6 later

Lyr..the one i would choose if icouldnt get the others..but also needs tuberolling!..good quality-price relation.

I heard other amps....but i cant say they do well with my 500..imho ofcourse..and am sure..a million more amps can do well..but didnt listen to them all..

So guys..who is next? Any speakerguy? Ur on the stand! Help us with suggestions. tongue.gif

Just to add to the confusion, I didn't like the sound of the HE-500 off the soloist. I didn't think the Burson was a very engaging amplifier for them....

Even my (relatively) cheap AudioGD 11.32 makes HE500 sing mighty well.

In my country we have our own Audio GD seller/agent. Lucky me biggrin.gif
You Europeans might be able to buy it from Denmark if you can convince Claus, but it ain't cheap..

thanks but i exclude the pot.

i explain: this version of my beta has a new alps quad rk-50

the first version had a quad dact and i felt at times the same problema with low impedance headphones or when i used the norn cable

I think the Yulong A18 amp would be killer as well.

Is it pricey to just buy AudioGD stuff straight from their site? The declared val of whatever they ship you is typically much less than what you paid for em, so import taxes are fairly minor.

It depends on your country's customs, some are really strict and no matter whether you declare it as gift or mark it as $50 bucks, they can certainly find out the real value - or worse giving it a value according to the size/weight then tax you accordingly  . It also depends on which courier you opt for.

For European specifically, it's cheapest to buy straight from Audio-gd, together with some "tricks" - or order from their Polish distributor (no tax for EU members)
