Nice. I might pick up a second one later on. Maybe in December again to get the holiday discount.

Using an emotiva mini-x with my HE-500. Sounds great!

Build quality of the cable. The stock cable is poorly assembled and has the potential to break very easily. Good cables are much more robust.

The Silver Dragon was my experiment to see if there really is a difference in sound between cables. I went into it with no expectations or preconceptions. I found no difference in the sound.

If I could do it again, I would probably get the Blue Dragon as it has the same great build quality but is considerably less expensive.

You could always make your own cable as well. About $10 in parts (and some time) will get a good quality cable.

another honest post.  Thx for your sincere response about cable.  If you know exactly the purpose you buy sub cable for then $ is not a concern and you don't need to make up justifications.

Fang needs to seriously call up Emotiva and strike up a partnership. The min-X was clearly built for the HE-500. It tightens up that flabby bass so it's tight as a drum. The HE-500 is just EXPLOSIVE on the Emotiva, dynamic range is just insane: L3000.gif

If they released a similar model (even with 30wpc @ 8ohm) that had variable gain settings and a front headphone jack, they'd be selling them like hotcakes and they don't even realize it!

Yup. Agreed. Not LCD-2/3 tight but very pleasant, sometimes even more. If they sell Emotiva with two or three gain settings, single ended and balanced headphone input, this could be the next best budget headphone amp. Also, it'd be nice to have two inputs at the back instead of one and two speaker outs instead of one. I like the Marantz amps as well for this and their sound.

Yea, exactly. Seemed to have miss reading this completely.

Nah, the Lyr is a weakling you need MOAAR power. very_evil_smiley.gif

Okay, maybe that's a little bit mean. (I'm half joking) The Lyr is in fact very Awesome, but it's so 2011. The Emotiva is the new FOTM and it's less than half the price of the Lyr, so even if it was only half as good, it's still a good bargain.

But yeah the Lyr is nice. Enjoy it my friend.beerchug.gif

I used to work as a International Lyr pusher. I probably made more postive comments about the Lyr than the Emotiva believe it or not. Back in 2011. I'm trying to get a job with Emotiva now. You're kind of late to the Lyr party, two years late to be precise. Plenty of nice things have already been said about the Lyr, by me and many MANY others.

Edit: And for the record, everything I say about the Lyr vs. Emotiva is true. If you care to find out. (Let them know it was me who closed the sale so they PayPal me the commission okay?)

What calendar are you using??? That must be one big ass month biggrin.gif. The Emotiva has been going on since last Christmas.

LOL I wonder how many customers Emotiva got because of that thread. Give it a month or two and you'll see Emotiva being a head-fi sponsor.
