I was looking at PlusSound cables as they're relatively inexpensive (compared to other cables I've seen)

I didn't like the HiFiMan silver cable and prefer using the canare cable I have so I'd prefer to have a similar cable with balanced termination.

Cut your single ended cable and solder the 4 leads into a XLR 4 pin plug is your cheapest bet =p. If you still want TRS for compatible, cut the cable and leave ~20cm of wire to the 1/4 plug. Should cost you 10-20 bucks top.

Yeah I thought about taking the knife to my cable but I think at this point I'd prefer to keep the cable intact for potential resale value and in case I go back to a Single ended amp redface.gif I can possibly convert the silver cable but I found it annoyingly microphonic

I wish the oem cables from HiFiMan weren't so expensive

It's not that expensive =p. If you means the he-6 cable (OCC copper balance one) - kinda good value for $150 (I got the He-6 so it's free though tongue_smile.gif) considering cheapest aftermarket is Charleston ($90 - canare), and headphonelounge ($140ish - OCC copper). If you can DIY; canare star-quad is really cheap, and Neutrik 4 pin cost like 10 bucks, and around 5 bucks for paracord sleeve of your choice.

The Charleston cables look like they might be the go actually. I'll have to do more research into my options though

I'm using Charleston no complaints.

Thanks, was the company ok to deal with?

I've got to say that the more time I spend with these cans/amp the more I like them. I've been listening so much lately that I'm behind on stuff I need to get done. I guess it's a good problem to have.

Just ordered a Lyr. This will be my first time trying tubes. Definitely looking forward to seeing how it pairs with the HE-500.

Toxic cables maybe? They now also have a singapore reseller now. Check their appreciation thread..

but ofcourse there are other good brands some more expensive then others..but not all quality is the same! But u haveto find that out urself i guess...biggrin.gif

In my opinion a good copper cable (litz 2 stranded) pairs well with the he500....

Sell your 500s and get Preproman's which are hard wired with Norse Audio 4-pin XLR cable!

I got his 5LEs that came with a similar (the same?) cable and I dig them big time! No more connector on the shoulders, very sturdy cable and nice feel & flexibility.

As for the pairing with the 500s: if you find it too slow or dark, get yourself a pair of 5LEs!

I should suggest kingwa to build an all-in-one box with the Sabre DAC & Diamond Difference AMP. The NFB-27+SA-31 is just awesome! I would like to see a Compass 2 SA...

I'd be down for a Compass 2 SA too.

I've decided to get a nice copper cable with XLR termination for my HE500's but it won't be for a few weeks as I don't know whether I'll keep the NFB10SE or sell it on and spring for something else biggrin.gif

You fool!!! ;-)

Well, if you don't already have a XLR cable, you won't hear the NFB-10SE to its full potential. The snake is biting its own tail here :D

I have the asgard2 but the lyr is calling my name would there be a big difference on the he500 with standard tubes. These pages are killing my wallet
