I have, and I still prefer the Lyr(E188cc La Radiotecnique tubes) over the 337 with my He-500s.

Yep i know..the 337 story with standard tubes compared to a lyr completely perfectly tuberolled right? I think i once said on a reply on this: try the 337 with tungsols 5998 as powertubes and the tungsols sj7gt mesh plates as drivers..and ur opinion COULD change in favor of the 337.. Imho the 337 only starts to shine AFTER tuberolling..its an investment i know..but when u have the right pairs..well..its up to u then to decide what amp can better that even close of what u spend on 337 + right tubes..imho ofcourse..but we both had this debate on a different thread also if i am not wrong..lyr is a good amp with the right expensive tubes..the 337 is league higher is ur wiling to spend around 350usd on the right driver-powertubes..imho ofcourse..and then u have to check the 339 thread..i read there that u can modify the 337 or especially the 339 to an amp-headphone combination that could give the sennheiser orpheus a run for his money..and that costs more then 10.000 usd! With the 337/339 its all about what ur priorities are

and another thing i found out..the first versions of the 337 were not well designed to drive low impedance phones..only last models were modified to handle that better..check google..u will see pics of the 4 models..i happen to have lastmodel with the upgraded capacitators..that makes a huge difference also...

but as i said..if u love ur lyr..not even a million buck will change u back to the 337..as u mind says its not worth it..and i respect that.

but pls..check the 339 threadbefore u again say u prefer the lyr above ur bog standard 337..as thats comparing a bmw m3 GT to a audi s3.. Both are fast cars..only first one is modified to go as fast as u dare to go...in corners and straights...the other is just a 'regular' fast car..its perfect quality..but nothing special for the money it costs compared to other german fast cars.

imho ofcourse..and dont forget..i respect ur opinion..as long its based on a fair comparision...otherwise its not really interesting to know to be honest..its only giving false info..come back if u tried the 337 with good tubes..and then i take ur word that u love the lyr more then the 337 with the he500...oops..hope i am not sounding to agressive now..my apologies..i just dont like people saying things about products u cant compare.or ur compare both amps virgin..or u compare two amps on their best..

thats nothing more then fair right?biggrin.gif

337 wasn't even on my radar! My wallet curses you!

Although, I have Stax ambitions..

I am running the Omega system through the O2, and according to the math, the headphones are getting loud enough, fantastic combo!  Hehehe, just kidding.

Anyway, I am reaching close to 100 hrs on the He500.  I have heard that they should start to open up.  Well so far I have noticed, the sound has become more centralised or in other words, more defined in the centre.  The LF339 is settling down as well, so I am not sure if it's the He500 finishing their burn-in period, or the amp setting down or both.  But, I like what I hear.

i would advice..try one of the amps thats considered good with the he500.. Like 337/339/emotiva/v200/lyr which i tried myself..am sure others will do fine also..but search on the net and forums..and then try them out..compare them then with ur o2..and then be honest to urself.

And, if I have done this (and others amps) and I still think the 02 is the one for me, will you go away?

I will never go away.oh u mean..leave u alone? .as i said i respect honest comparitions..thats my point..ofcourse i will leave it alone..correction..i already left it alone as ur answer is with a bit of disrespect towards me..and others..but hey..not everyone is like me..or most of us on headfi..respectfull...so we leave it like this...have a great day with ur o2.

Oops. My badvery_evil_smiley.gif

but seriously..that amp is a real bargain for what it delivers if u spend some effort in getting the right tubes...i happen to like the same pairs for drivers and powertubes as skylab..the godfather here of the tube world!wink.gif

ps..am already working on something even better..so maybe my 337 will be on sale later this year with all my tubes.biggrin.gif
