I was surprised it was plastic and not metal...or at least some kind of metal insert.

In any case this is something I can easily fix from my end when i receive the parts.

In the meantime i'm stuck using my Beyer DT990 600ohm....so dissapointing =(

For me to screw it back in correctly i had to make a small incision just enough to fit a small phillips screw driver.

I would have a heart attack if I actually owned this $700 dollar headphone and that happened to me. I'm not the biggest fan of the build quality, of all hifiman headphones.

Yea i kind of had a miniature heart attack when it happened to me. It happened so fast i didn't know how to react =/

Thankfully i was able to screw it back on...temporarily =(

Going back to the DT990 is just so dissapointing. The HE-500s are in a TOTALLY different league than the DT990s.

all companies occasionally have problems and sometimes sh&t happens. My pair of HE-500s are the sturdiest headphones I have owned and the build quality is great. Their customer service is also usually excellent.

I no longer like the wood though.  I would rather have a Norse logo shrink wrap..

No tongue_smile.gif Just go for it.  I had the HD650 and HE400 and much prefer the HE500.  You wont regret it.wink_face.gif

Sweet! I probably would have done the same thing but had a Q cable leftover from my HE400 days.

How's the break in process going for you?  Had mine about 10 days and probably has 150 hours of burn in.  I still feel that it needs more so I'm running them on my Lyr for about 10 hours a day.

Have you tired the velour pads yet? Had the velour pads on for most of the time but they creaked and fit funny.  Went back to the pleathers last night and I'm liking them much more.  Opposite ot what I experienced with the HE400.  More break in time required.

You know you want your decision to buy confirmed, otherwise you would have surely posted in a different thread.

Best phone I own.  You'll love it.  If you don't cherish it you'll be able to sell it at little loss.

Feel better?
