Not since the admins downgraded this thread from summit-fi.

Hello HE-500 fans, I am interested in these phones but don't really want to buy without hearing them, do any of you live in the phoenix or tucson area who would be willing to meet up for a quick listen?

The topic is HE500s. These songs sound great on them. tongue.gif

But seriously, I see nothing wrong with people of a like mind sharing ideas and getting to know each other on another level. There's no newbies here asking questions at the moment... a little socialization never hurt anyone.

Definitely will. I just checked the tracking information and it's in Oakland which is about an hour from here! I wish I could just go over and get it! As it is, I won't see it until Tuesday... I'm using them with the DACMini right now and it's not a bad little rig. Just needs a little more power. it starts getting a little strident if you push it too hard.

Thank you all for sharing those wonderful youtube links..especially dubstep girl. First track you shared was amazing.

Continuously finding more love for my HE-500s

@Stalker, that buttery smoothness and yet full of extension is something special.

@D_G, Ultimae records indeed. Solar Fields is another great composer. There really is something for everyone on that label.
Your music posts are making my ears water (ha). I should have an opportunity this evening to go through them. Thank you for paying it forward. Cheers!

@jiggawhat, CBL is _very_ similar to Aes Dana indeed. CBL continues to put out great albums, while Aes Dana not so much :(

@bareyb, You're welcome. If you crave more, check out the Ultimae Records site. To name a few, composers such as Carbon Based Lifeforms (CBL for short), H.U.V.A Network (which is a collabo between Aes Dana and CBL), Vibrasphere and Hanging Masses are also great.
For something a bit more "edgy", look into Gridlock. Enjoy.

@Acapella11, you got it. Without the music our gear would be nothing more than cold and silent scrap metal.

@EVERYONE, Thank you for taking the time to post these wonderful music links.  My HE-500's are going to receive some lovin' tonight.  WUNDERBAR!

Would 8W/channel be too much for the HE-500?

I wouldn't think so if you didn't turn it up too loud. People are using Speaker Amps to drive these things. What amp did you find that has 8 wpc?

I have both the Conductor and the HE-500. The Conductor has more than enough power to drive the sometimes difficult to drive 500's.What is not often mentioned is how good the sabre 32 dac is in the Conductor.Lively while retaining Burson's analog type sound.

They work great together.....

Very happy to hear you say that philo50. Matching components and symmetry are often overlooked. That Sabre Chip is the same chip they use in Summit Fi DACS costing many times more. From all I have read, it's a masterful pairing.

I just got a call from FED EX. They wanted to let me know my package will be arriving tomorrow and they want a signature or a note waiving same. This is one of those times I'm glad I work at home.

I'm really glad to hear about the power too. That was my main concern after my disappointment in the DACMini's Power. I wanted the most power I could get in an all-in-one and the Burson has it. The Bass is supposed to be great out of them too. I'm kind of a Bass fan (good Bass) so that definitely works for me. Thanks for the info!

well I feel like an idiot now...

I ordered a 1/4inch to 3.5mm jack along with my HE500. The HE500s are here but the jack hasn't arrived yet. I only just now ordered the Lyr+Brifrost combo. So at the moment I have to settle for sniffing the fine leather headband (which smells great by the way)

Where are you located (phone site doesn't list it)? Target and Radio Shack both have a cheapie connector that'll let you enjoy the HE-500 until you get the one you ordered.
