Dont know where u got that 200 usd from..i just checked q audio site..and for a 6ft cable u pay 265 usd..on top of that u need to buy an adapter for 30 usd to make it work with a he500...so pls explain where u got that 200 usd from...the 6ft. toxic cable black widow 22 awg litz 2 stranded copper cable with viablue high quality 6.3 connector costs 181 usd (its 120gbp)..its topquality made and sounds beautifully with the he500..i myself also own a very good sounding custommade DHC molecule quicksilver cable with furutech 704 connector..and the black widow is a much better cable..only esthetically the dhc is more desirable..that cable looks like white snakeskin if lights hits it.nover saw a cable that beautiful to be honest..(is for sale soon by the way) ..the toxic cable has a clear coating..

He's talking about Norse cables.  6ft of that cable would get you under the $200 mark - and you don't need those ear rings either..

As u can see he meant both..but its ok..no worries..but..am sure i i check a litz 2 22AWG cable with norse audio, who makes wonderful cables by the way!, u wont find it under 200 usd..their most basic cable maybe...but thats okey..everyone needs to make a living right? And some has bigger expenses then others and so has to earn that back somehow..thats marketing..

Also for comparison,

Skuld 4 and Reign 4 can get done pretty quick and probably 5-7 business days before shipment depending on length.  Usually the 6 ft. and 8 ft. lengths will meet this much quicker as we will have pre-braided cables in these lengths usually.  The 24-wire and other labor intensive cables will vary depending on length, but usually around 8-12 business days.

My main concerns with the HE-400 were the mids. I'm very familiar with the HE-500 as i've heard it many times, and because of this knowledge, the HE-400 just seemed under-performing for my tastes. The mids in the HE-500 are just that much more engaging and as an avid Jazz listener, it's hard not to choose the HE-500 over the 400.

Here's what I lost/won with the trade.

+ (because I prefer good news over bad news first): Mids and treble. Simple.
-: Well, bass. The 500 extends deeper and has a more linear response, but the 400 hits harder, and that I like more. Most importantly, $
Neutral: I'm not a huge fan of the cables, but I have new copper hybrids coming on the way so I guess it doesn't matter.

But with that said, the HE-500 is my all-time favorite headphone. The mids are just addicting and it's sheer speed is incredible. Finally, I'm home.

(for the people wondering, I use the Hifiman EF-5 amp with the HE-500 and used it with the HE-400 as well)

Congrats! Welcome to the club.

Oh my God... I just pulled the trigger on the last set of HE500s they had on Amazon PRIME. Holy crap... You guys are a horrible influence (but I love it). I just got a new Desktop Headphone Amp too. I've definitely fallen prey to this hobby. I think the HE500s and the CEntrance Amp are my end game though. I'm done after that... I really think I am.   biggrin.gif

HAHAHA. You'll probably want to try out the LCD-2 later on if you already haven't done so or currently own it.

I refuse to try those.

Because they may mug me and take the contents of my Wallet. If I'd never heard the HE400s I probably wouldn't have bought the HE500s... I've heard the Audeze have a way of making people take them home.  wink.gif

By the way. Is anyone using a CEntrance Dac Mini Amp with their HE500's? The specs say a watt and half... but it worries me that they offer a +10 dB upgrade for folks with hard to drive Cans... I really like it LOUD sometimes so I just hope it's got enough ooomph for me... The form factor is perfect. I really need it to be "luggable". Anyone using a Dac Mini? Does it crank out some decent volume? smily_headphones1.gif

Yea...probably best to stay clear of them, for your wallet's sake. wink.gif

Should be sufficient for deafening volumes (1.5 watt into how many ohms?). Can't say if the CEntrance amp/dac is any good though

A friend of mine uses it (with the 1 ohm mod, but not with the gain mod). Definitely not loud with HE500.
