Thats why i sold my he400 and as soon i have enough money.i will sell my excellent 337 and he500 for..a new high end amp and he6.. wink.gif
Enjoy ur he500 timodeus wink.gif
Ps..a tip..try to exhange the standard silver cable for a good copper one ( like a toxic cables black widow 22 AWG - i will put a little review online as soon i receive 2 of them next week!) and if u have the chance try the darkvoice 337 or the lafigaro 339 or violectric v200 or yulong a18 sabre or shiit mjolnir..with those amps and the right cable ur he500 will outshine almost anything normal people can afford. wink.gif IMHO ps..yep i consider myself a normal guy..well most of the times biggrin.gif

Not really.  As you have seem many times before - the $200 a-100 mini X will make the HE-6 outshine the 500s in a heart beat.  Also, lets not forget about the HE-5LEs here.  A pretty good headphone in it's own right.  On that same a-100 mini X it out shines the 500s as well.  IMObiggrin.gif

I heard lots of good things about that wonder amp, the emotiva mini x...but its the exception to the rule i think..the only amp known to me that can drive a he6 with quality....how many other budget amps u know which can drive planars? .but wait..the emotiva mini x is not a headphone amp right? U have to connect the phones to the loidspeaker outputs? Maybe i have to try that mini x..and compare it to my 337 which is known to be the perfect amp for the he500...allthough i am afraid my also not expensive 337 will outshine the mini x with my he500. But as i said..i am always open for alternatives..as in the past i hated tube amps..for me the excellent mstage i once had burned down many even more expensive amps..and now i have a tube amp..as i said..maybe i will tbuy one..or maybe someone here in holland will let me listen to one..
By the way..he5le vs he500...the he5 is to neutral for me..i didnt like it..thats why i choose the he500 instead of he5le..here in holland the prices are the samefor both phones. wink.gif

I have no doubt that the tube amp will sound better with the 500s.  The mini X goes better with the HE-6 and the HE-5LE - only because you need that to drive them.  you don't with the 500s.

The 5LE neutral?  It's not Paradox neutral - but the overall tonal balance in better to me than the 500s.  The 500s will win in certain areas of course.  But overall IMO the 5LE wins on everything as a hole.  But you need that power behind it to get all the good things.  That's why the 500s are so damn good. Because you don't need all that power and you get to benefit from the lushness of tube amps.

Yes the mini X is a speaker amp..

Been there read it smily_headphones1.gif
Really happy with the NFB3.32 though. It was just slightly more expensive.
It also has all the inputs one needs. Very good performance even now IMO
Also a bang for the buck.
