I need probably a new cable for my HE-500.

At the moment i have the black canare cable which don't look to good anymore.

Are there any specific recommendations?

Something in the 40 - 80€ price class?

I believe that Head-direct.com which is the online store for Hifiman has some cables for sale - they even have the newer cables that come with the HE-6 and HE-560. Something to consider, perhaps? :)

I have tried the angled Q701 pads but they are too hollow sounding and undo all the benefits of my black pearl mod. I think I might try to do some mod to the Q701 pads to make it less hollow sounding.

I used the Q701 pads on the HE-500s, and while I preferred them over others I'd tried up to that point, I ended up cannibalizing the foam for DIY pads.  Those are better, but it was a lot of work, and went through a few revisions.  And these new HM5 pads are more comfortable for me.  They also don't have that hollowness to which you refer.  So, if you've got the cash, you should try one, of not both, types, and save yourself a lot of work.  Unless you love doing that kind of thing.

Giving the 500s some extra love this evening from the Pan Am stack. Just euphoric I tell ya. Stock cable (shock, I know), Focus Pads, and grill mod. These handily beat any dynamic I've heard including almost every Grado, upper-tier Senns, and a few nicer AKGs.

Snarky Puppy never sounded so good!

Ok, i saw two cables

first is the Silver coated copper cable (3m)

second is the Cable for HE-400(3m)

both cost 60 bucks

i suppose the HE-400 cable is darker sounding?

i haven't seen a HE-560 cable under 100 dollars though.
