Would rather have found a good second hand power amp or something. Or maybe the marantz pm 6005.

OUch, do other people have similar issues? If not perhaps you got a lemon. If you get a receiver or non-headphone amp, beware of the likelyhood of series resistors to the headphone jack. Some headhones have wild impedance curves that sound awful with just a series resistor. You can always hang the HE-500's off the speaker taps as you've done with the Emo

A number of people have similar issues minus the popping. At 200€ I had been plenty satisfied with the purchase, but at 360$... Just a tad too much.

Ouch, for that kind of money you could have got some used Cyrus kit.

I think the Concero DAC and Garage 1217 amp would be a nice match and the Concero should be nice even with the M-stage if you intend to keep it. Shipping on the Concero was 45 CAD and the Garage amps are around $25 shipping and then you've still got duties and customs etc. but at least the shipping doesn't knock a huge dent in your wallet. Another nice option to look at is the Audio-GD NFB-10ES3, but works better with balanced terminated headphones.

wow this is right in line with my path:  a Concero HD already on the desk and likely grabbing an Ember amp next month.

If anyone actually does run this pair with your HE-500s, would be interested in any/all real world listening sessions.

thanks!

The he-500 one is a slinky wrapped in foam, it doesn't imprint the headband at all, the other I don't care, they may not look nice but they function great.

My Emotiva is up for sale if anyone's interested.

IMO Much sexier in the different wood flavours than the plain black. I am selling my Zebrano Room stand and it matched the LCD-3 to the tee. I'm gonna miss it.

I have a total matt black wooden phone..remember? And my amp is black too with stainless steel cover..so i am guessing black wood would look best..and its the cheapest of them all...hehehe tongue.gif

Yea, a lot of people do. Personally I cant stand the wood look. I like machined, modern, refined and solid look of black colored metals.
