Thansk oldskool..i will check them out.

I have a budget of around max 1000euro (around 1300usd) for a rack i am looking for... Its not huge i know..as i saw racks going way above 2000usd!

Sorry man, I know others may have their preferences and reasons, but there isnt a single rack/shelf/stand/whatever that you could show me that I would ever think is justified for anything over say $200USD AT MOST! $1300 is just silly IMO. But, if it makes someone happy and they have the money to blow, I guess have at it. But personally Id rather have a <$100USD solution and spend the other $1200USD on a new toy. A new set of cans, a new amp, etc.

We've got a local company (Lerange) here building beautiful audiophile racks for $500... At $2000 your being served snake oil.

I'd also like to hear less about Blue Circle and trillion tons of capacitance and more about the HE-500 in this thread. I'm sure its going to be great amp, but I'd rather read up about it in other threads rather than the HE-500 thread. After all the HE-500 is not summit-fi.

Wow..that looks good!! Especially the pic with the almost black rack..the rack on the left on this pic..

.and that for 650usd! (Audiophile series) Thats a really good price!!
I wonder if they ship internationally? I am in the netherlands remember...??? Do u know that by any chance?

Thanks for the tip!!
And about BC.. I already deleted almost all posts concerning BC of the last few weeks..as ur right..as this is a more mid-fi thread about the he500.

I see Louis has his contact details on the page. I suggest dropping him an email, he is quite prompt to respond, but I'm sure he will be willing to ship internationally. Some of his stuff is designed to be self assembled. South Africa is quite a sizeable country so a lot of racks are shipped all over the country. And Louis usually go out of his way to keep his customers happy. We all like him a lot as he specialises in custom build hi-fi racks for customers. He will send you drawings of the design etc. and then you can choose your wood finishes. The shipping might be a touch expensive, but if his prices are based on our local currency you'll find a terrific value as the current Rand to Euro exchange rate is very favourably biased towards the Euro.

I agree on all these counts. Those stands linked to are pretty clean and look to serve their purpose well and while they are more than I would spend, they are not stupidly overpriced.

He's buying it purely based on reviews and feedbacks.  I have to say that I truly admire his bravery.  Rookie is a careful researcher though so I hope it will work out for him.

I wouldn't be able to sink that much $ into an amp without hearing it for myself first hand.

Fortunately here in Australia all real men are required to own a shed full of power tools and be proficient in the use of same

Any rack or stand is a simple matter of a trip to the hardware store and/or scrap yard and an afternoon in the previously mentioned shed

My own HE500's hang majestically from a backed bean tin bolted to some scrap aluminium

My home theater set sits on a stand made of plywood and red ceder recycled from an old gate

Ah the lucky country indeed

Lol! Ah yes, one forgets that DIY isn't de rigueur everywhere.

thanks for ur admiration..but its just following some basic rules of procurement really... even if u listen to a rig before hand u dont know for sure it will sound the same at home i found out with a friend of mine...

and.. i bought every audio equipment i ever had based on that! NEVER EVER LISTENED TO ANY COMPONENT BEFORE I BOUGHT IT..on contrary..every component that i DID listen to wasnt good enough or was a bit disapointing to my taste when i did....strange but the hard truth!..and until now i never went wrong with the way i buy my audio stuff.....and the new owners of my stuff agree completely with me..lolz

but yeah...i do my homework..sometimes it takes months before i buy something...and sometimes i just fall over something special by accident as was the case with the 337 i had and now the code-x.

..and i dont trust anyone until proven fact..no matter how good the story sounds... but in the years i have created my own network by now of people that i trust blindly when one of them say its worth to buy i seriously will think about it to buy it..... even if it sounds to fantastic to believe... until now i never got any wrong advice.. as they know me...i check everything a million times... so if u lie to me..or wanna sell me stuff that isnt what u say it is..or as someone says..snake oil...well..u better not... and trust me..i dealt with a couple of brands who tried that..one being a cable brand...trashing others brands names to get the deal...i wont falll for that...no matter if u even give me a free cable...got some good deals a few times!!.as that happens a lot around the audio industry!! hint: positive reviews that sound to good to be true.

i know its something of a taboo on headfi..but it happens more then u think! and it happened to me! and i rejected it! as for me its not honest business... but who cares what i say..i am a lunatic..

but what u do have to know is this...I NEVER EVER LIE to make a point..or make something look better then it is...yes i shout a lot (on paper..lolz) and can get emotional n(on paper)...but i always have my facts straight...and i will never get into any debate of which i dont know shiit about..people who know me longer know that...

so...yeah..this will be my most expensive buy for audio..by far..FOR NOW..as i still have to buy a new speaker rig later this year.. but i wont bore u with that...

Actually....please do! I'd actually be interested in hearing about this. No sarcasm intended. Also, you have massive grapefruits. I don't think I could drop over $2k without listening first hand.

wont happen.. just search for my nickname at the end of this year..and u will probably find me somewhere else (if i do actually find what i am looking for)..

and about my big..well...cojones??? well..if skylab (and more people if u search in a certain corner) for instance has the grapefruits to do the same with a BC SBH amp (or any other custommade component like the people who bought one of those wonderfull Glenn tube amps! BLINDLY!!) why should i differ? is it maybe because they probably are prepared to invest more in their rig then the average HE500 owner? and so are willing to take that calculated risk?

i dont know..am only guessing why u guys find it so absolutely weird or brave that i do this.and others dont even think twice to spend money on a custommade rig...its done by ANY other person who buys custommade handmade audio stuff...no matter the price...

hifiman will be sidetracked by then..i probbaly will go martin logan'stats with mcintosch power..but as i said...the 'sheet' of minimal demands for my rig is still blank..but i already had some valuable tips from a fellow headfi'er who has big experience with that..who actually helped me instead of ..well.....

and thats all i wanna say about that..lets go back to the he500, as thats what u guys know all about...:D
